Myanmar Increases Rice Export Capability

Myanmar is embarking to create a vast swath of fertile rice producing areas along the Ayeyarwady River which once made the country the world's leading exporter of the main East Asian staple.

Due to the region's warm climate, double or even triple cropping is possible in some areas.

Prior to the military regime takeover, Myanmar was one of the world's leading rice exporters from the 1920's to 1960's.
